Fajarasia.id – The Tanjung Balai Police officially kicked off the regional traffic enforcement campaign “Zebra Toba 2025” on Monday (November 17) with a ceremonial roll call at the Polres parade ground.
The operation will run for 14 consecutive days, from November 17 to November 30, 2025. The roll call was led by Deputy Police Chief Kompol MP. Pardede, S.H., and attended by representatives from various institutions, including the city government, members of the local parliament, the Indonesian Navy, the Attorney General’s Office, and religious leaders.
In his address, the Deputy Police Chief emphasized that this year’s Zebra Toba carries the theme “Creating Safe and Comfortable Traffic Conditions Ahead of Operation Lilin 2025.” The campaign aims to reduce traffic violations and accidents, as North Sumatra continues to face significant road safety challenges. Although statistics from January to October 2025 show a decline compared to 2024, authorities believe proactive measures remain essential.
Kompol Pardede stressed that all personnel must act professionally and adhere strictly to standard operating procedures, ensuring no misconduct or counterproductive behavior during the operation.
The roll call featured joint forces from multiple units, including the Army, Navy, Military Police, Mobile Brigade (Brimob), Traffic Police, Water Police, as well as personnel from the Transportation Agency, Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
Police Chief AKBP Welman Feri, S.I.K., M.I.K., through his deputy, expressed hope that Zebra Toba 2025 will deliver tangible results in improving road safety, reducing accidents, and fostering a culture of traffic discipline across North Sumatra.
Authorities also reminded the public to carry valid vehicle documents, obey traffic signs, and prioritize safety while driving.(Igt)
