18th Malindo HLC Session Highlights Socio-Economic Development in Border Areas

Fajarasia.id  – The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs attended the 18th session of the Malaysia–Indonesia High Level Committee (HLC) held in Jakarta on Tuesday, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to strengthen cooperation in border regions, with a primary focus on socio-economic development.

Amran, Director of Regional, Urban, and Border Affairs at the Directorate General of Regional Administration, presented the latest progress report from the Malindo Socio-Economic Working Group (Sosek Malindo). “We reported achievements, summarized activities, and outlined follow-up plans aimed at improving the welfare of communities living along the Indonesia–Malaysia border,” Amran said on Sunday (November 16, 2025).

The Malindo HLC serves as a bilateral platform that regularly addresses regional dynamics while reinforcing the strong ties between Indonesia and Malaysia. Within the committee, Sosek Malindo functions as a dedicated subforum focusing on socio-economic development issues, ranging from infrastructure and education to community empowerment.

Amran emphasized that the programs discussed in the forum are designed to deliver tangible benefits directly to border communities. “Our commitment is to continue priority programs that have real impact, while at the same time strengthening good relations and joint development,” he noted.

The ongoing socio-economic cooperation is expected to foster more equitable economic growth and further solidify the bonds of friendship between the two neighboring countries.***
