Fajarasia.co – During her visit to North Sumatra, the Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, visited Humbang Hasundutan Regency. Puan and local residents then planted chilies together.
Puan, who was accompanied by the Chairman of Commission V of the DPR Lasarus and the Deputy Chair of Commission X of the DPR Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, planted chilies in Pearung Silali Village, North Paranginan District, Thursday (1/9/2022).
The first woman to serve as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives was also welcomed by traditional events, including the Tortor dance and the ulos ring. Around 5,000 residents from various sub-districts in Humbang Hasunduta Regency attended to welcome Puan.
In this activity, Puan and residents planted 2 tons of chili seeds. After planting chilies, Puan then had a dialogue with residents from various professions.
Starting from village heads, cultural observers, farmer groups, midwives, state civil servants (ASN), to teachers. There were also a number of elderly or opung-opung who attended the dialogue with Puan.
“I came here to hear the aspirations of the people of Humbang Hasunduta,” said Puan.
Puan then called a number of residents to take turns on the stage. One of them, named Menti Boru Siregar, who works as a vegetable farmer, complained about subsidized fertilizers.
“We are elderly, asking for milk distribution for health and rheumatism medicine,” added Menti.
To Menti, Puan promised to encourage the Government to solve the problem of subsidized fertilizers that farmers have been complaining about.
“I’ll give you milk later, I’ll also clean the fertilizer,” said Puan.
Some residents asked Puan to help them find a good road. Puan also stated that she was ready to channel the aspirations of the residents and advised the local community to continue to maintain harmony.
“Please maintain harmony in Humbang Hasundutan. For Indonesia, diversity is a source of strength, not a source of division,” said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
“Always remember to work together in dealing with various problems or to achieve a goal for the common good,” continued Puan.***
