Fajarasia.id – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, expressed his country’s ambition to boost investment in Indonesia, citing the nation’s vast economic potential. His remarks came after a meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Investment and BKPM Head, who also serves as CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
“We have already invested in several sectors, but the potential goes far beyond what we have done so far. We aspire to increase the scale of investment and bring in new opportunities,” Suhail told reporters following the meeting.
Discussions highlighted several promising areas for future investment, including aluminum downstream processing, infrastructure development, and data centers. Rosan Roeslani offered opportunities in alumina projects located in West Kalimantan, while Suhail emphasized Indonesia’s pressing need for infrastructure investment, noting that the UAE would be pleased to contribute as a strategic partner.
On data centers, Suhail underscored their importance for the future of manufacturing and innovation, particularly for younger generations. “They rely heavily on data, and usage will continue to grow with the increasing adoption of AI across industries, education, healthcare, and beyond,” he explained.
Suhail also praised Indonesia’s strong human capital base, stressing that with access to energy and technology, Indonesians can drive innovation. The UAE, he added, is committed to supporting this progress by investing in collaborative areas such as aluminum, data centers, energy interconnection, and power grid development.
“It is time for companies to ensure mutually beneficial arrangements. Hopefully, we will see more partnerships between Indonesia and the UAE in the future,” Suhail said.
When asked about potential cooperation with Danantara, Suhail noted that several UAE sovereign wealth funds have already invested in Indonesia. He did not rule out future collaboration, stating, “There is potential. Give us time, and God willing, we will make it happen.”.***
