Fajarasia.co – The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, expressed her condolences for the tragedy of the riot at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, which claimed 127 lives. As a result of the tragedy after the Arema versus Persebaya match, hundreds of people were also injured.
“What happened at Kanjuruhan Stadium last night was a heartbreaking event. On behalf of the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the tragedy,” said Puan, Sunday (2/10/2022),
However, said Puan, this incident absolutely must be investigated thoroughly.
“Why can there be such a tragedy that takes so many lives on a football field? How is the implementation process by the organizing committee? What are the security procedures?” said Mrs.
“Everything has to be thoroughly investigated. No no no! This is about the lives of the missing people,” said Puan.
The first woman who served as Chair of the House of Representatives said that football matches in the stadium should be a place of fun entertainment for the general public. Including the fans in expressing support for their favorite team.
“It’s not even the site of a tragedy that has killed more than a hundred people,” said Puan.
“Human lives, our lives, are too valuable just for a football match that ends in riots,” added Puan.
Therefore, Puan asked PSSI to also improve and evaluate the total implementation of the national football league.
“We ask the national league to be suspended temporarily out of respect for the victims, pending the results of a full investigation into this tragedy,” said Puan.****
