Fajarasia.co – Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives and Chair of the PDI-P (PDIP) Puan Maharani met with the General Chair of Gerindra, Prabowo Subianto. At the residence of the Minister of Defense, Puan was invited to ride a horse to talk one-on-one.
Puan arrived at Prabowo’s house in Hambalang, Bogor, at around 10.45 WIB, Sunday (4/9/2022). Prabowo’s presence was welcomed by Prabowo at the pavilion of his house.
Wearing a black polo shirt with a red and white collar and casual dongker bureau pants, Puan was present accompanied by the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto. A number of PDIP figures also accompanied, such as Said Abdullah, Utut Adianto, Bambang Wuryanto, Charles Honoris, Dolfie OFP, Mufti Anam, Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, Gilang Dhielafararez, and Alex
Indra Lukman.
Meanwhile, Prabowo was accompanied by several Gerindra elites, including the party secretary general Ahmad Muzani and the daily chairman of the Sufmi Dasco Ahmad party who is also the deputy chairman of the DPR.
Puan also received a warm welcome from the Gerindra family accompanied by a music corps that sang the songs Indonesia Raya, Mars PDIP, and Mars Gerindra. After the welcoming ceremony, Puan then went to the locker room to put on her riding clothes.
Prabowo then invited Puan to ride on the racetrack at his house. The first woman to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives rode a Lusitano horse of Portuguese descent named Salero. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also rode the white horse when he came to Prabowo’s house in 2016.
While riding, Puan was accompanied by Prabowo who rode a brown horse named Cunhal. During 15 minutes of riding, Puan was given a short training by the instructor. Starting from still being held, to being able to ride on his own.
Even Puan had time to show off the half pass skill where the front legs were in a crossed position.
“It turns out that playing a horse also requires courage, a passion to then be able to synergize with the horse, and it turns out that it’s not as easy as I see it in movies or on TV,” said Puan.
Puan and Prabowo then feed the horses with fruit and carrots.
“This is what feeds you, Speaker of the DPR,” joked Prabowo while stroking Salero’s horse.
Next, Puan tried to ride a palomino-colored L’sultao horse, a horse of Portuguese descent born in Hambalang.
With this horse, Puan had time to try out a pose of respect or refrance where the horse’s legs are positioned like stretching. The front legs of the horse are forward, while the hind legs are stretched out and the body is lowered.
After riding, Puan was entertained by Prabowo to enjoy a meal next to the horse riding arena. Puan sat opposite Prabowo at a rectangular table.
After the lunch break, Puan and Prabowo held a 4 eye meeting at Wisma 1 Hambalang which is next to the main hall. Wisma 1 Hambalang is a place used by Prabowo to receive his personal guests.
“It is a great honor for Mrs. Puan Maharani to come. I feel very close to the family of Mrs. Puan, the family of Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia and Mr. Taufik Kiemas, “said Prabowo.
“So the family relationship has been established for a long time. It’s the third generation, my parents are also close to Bu Mega’s parents, my grandfather is also close to Bung Karno,” he continued.
The meeting between the ranks of PDIP and Gerindra today was indeed quite warm. Many jokes and laughter were thrown in the political safari.
Puan also expressed her gratitude for the welcome from Prabowo and the Gerindra ranks. Moreover, Prabowo stated that he had the honor of being visited by Puan.
“Thank you for the warm welcome on this occasion. I was allowed to try his favorite horse. Horse riding needs the right theory, it needs calm, you can’t be nervous,” explained Puan.
“And I came here full of peace because I came here feeling like my own family home. As stated by Mas Prabowo, our family relationship has come a long way,” continued the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
According to Puan, ups and downs in politics are normal. He emphasized that the most important thing is that family relations must still be nurtured even though they have different political views.
“We have to show commitment that when we compete we compete, but when we are side by side, we have to be side by side,” concluded Puan.****
