Serbia Praises Jokowi as Indonesia's G20 Presidency

Fajarasia.co – Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic expressed his appreciation for the G20 Presidency of Indonesia.

“I also want to congratulate Indonesia for having the opportunity to host the G20 Summit this year,” said Selakovic when giving a press statement after a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, Monday (23/05/2022) at the Pancasila Building, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta.

Selakovic also praised Indonesia’s principles in carrying out its duties as President of the G20.

“We are following with great care everyone what you do and we really appreciate your principled and sovereign position in leading this group during this year,” he added.

The meeting with the Indonesian Foreign Minister was also used by Selakovic to ensure strengthening cooperation in various fields.

“We also want to convey our good intentions and our readiness to increase cooperation in various fields, especially in the agricultural sector. But also in the fields of culture, education, youth, sports and defense,” said Selakovic.

The bilateral meeting between the Indonesian and Serbian Foreign Ministers in Jakarta agreed to strengthen cooperation in the export of wheat commodities. Foreign Minister Selakovic said apart from wheat, Serbia is also interested in exporting other commodities to Indonesia.

“We have spoken of course about the situation and conflict in Ukraine regarding food security, as well as all the consequences that have arisen after the start of this complex situation. We are interested in discussing the export of our food, namely wheat. But, not only wheat to enter the Indonesian market,” said the Serbian Foreign Minister.

Indonesia and Serbia are friendly countries that were involved in the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in 1961. ****
