Fajarasia.co – Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, reviewed the Modern Rice Milling Plant (MRMP) unit in Karawang, West Java. The MRMP which was built by Perum Bulog in order to carry out its duties as a guarantor of the availability, affordability and stability of food prices is a modern rice/grain milling facility.

Puan was present at the MRMP Karawang, Wednesday (21/9/2022) with a number of members of the DPR RI, namely the Chair of Commission IV DPR Sub-dept., Chair of Commission V of the DPR Lasarus, Deputy Chair of Commission VIII of the DPR Diah Pitaloka, Member of Commission IV DPR Riezky Aprilia, and members of the Commission. VI DPR dr. H. Mufti Aimah Nurul Anam. The DPR delegation was received by the President Director of Perum Bulog, Budi Waseso and his staff.

Puan also gave her support to Bulog for the efforts made in helping domestic farmers through MRMP. He hopes that there will be an increase in the absorption of agricultural production in the distribution of national rice.

“This MRMP must also be able to absorb surrounding harvests so that farmers can also benefit from the use of modern technology by Bulog,” said Puan.

The first woman to serve as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives added that food security will be realized by utilizing technological advances. For example, said Puan, with the MRMP development currently being carried out by Bulog in a number of regions.

“The DPR will continue to provide support for programs that will prosper the people,” said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Meanwhile, Budi Waseso said that the MRMP infrastructure development aims to help farmers and simplify the flow of the rice processing process that is centralized in the grain processing facility.

The rice processing system at MRMP is based on modern technology, which consists of a dryer and a rice milling unit (RMU) as a machine for converting grain into rice equipped with color sorter technology.

“One Bulog MRMP unit like the one in Karawang is equipped with a drying machine with a capacity of 120 tons/day, an RMU with a capacity of 6 tons/hour and 3 SILO units with a storage capacity of 2,000 tons,” explained Budi Waseso.

To note, the investment progress of the MRMP project in Karawang is ready to operate in October 2022. This project will be used for processing infrastructure activities for rice manufacturing at Perum Bulog.

With the strengthening of infrastructure through this MRMP, it is hoped that Bulog will become a Food SOE that can carry out government assignments properly in carrying out rice production, procurement and storage. In addition to the distribution of staple food determined by the government.****
