Fajarasia.id – Deputy Chair of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Kurniasih Mufidayati, underscored the importance of strengthening the implementation of national education goals as a strategic effort to prevent bullying and other negative behaviors in schools.
Speaking at the Dialektika Demokrasi discussion themed “Stop Bullying: DPR Formulates Concrete Solutions to Address Mental Health Issues in Education” held at the Parliament Complex in Senayan on Thursday (November 20, 2025), Kurniasih emphasized that education must return to the fundamental values enshrined in the national education objectives. These values, she noted, should be applied across all educational pathways—formal, informal, and non-formal.
“Students’ potential must be nurtured optimally. Education must ensure that children can grow and develop wherever they study,” Kurniasih stated.
Faith, Morality, and Character Building
Kurniasih highlighted the need to consistently strengthen faith and devotion as the foundation of national education. She argued that if these values are fully implemented, cases of bullying and other harmful behaviors could be significantly reduced.
She also stressed the importance of instilling noble character (akhlakul karimah) as a tangible outcome of education. According to her, strong character formation will encourage students to become positive individuals and avoid destructive actions.
Physical and Mental Health
Beyond character development, Kurniasih pointed to health as another crucial element of education. She clarified that health encompasses not only physical well-being but also mental resilience. With children today facing major challenges in psychological growth and stability, she urged greater attention to mental health.
“Children must be supported in building a positive mindset. Their psychological health is vital and must be reinforced,” she affirmed.
Shared Responsibility
Kurniasih concluded by stressing that strengthening national education goals cannot be achieved by schools alone. Families and government institutions must work hand in hand to create a generation that is strong in character, dignified, and free from violence.
