PKK Paluta Distributes Nutritional Aid to Dozens of At-Risk Toddlers

Fajarasia.id – The Family Welfare Movement (PKK) of Padang Lawas Utara Regency has distributed supplementary nutritious food to dozens of toddlers facing growth challenges in Pagaran Tonga Village, Padang Bolak District, and Pangirkiran Village, Halongonan District, on Tuesday (Nov 18, 2025). The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen stunting prevention programs at the village level.

A total of 65 toddlers received Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT), consisting of 55 children from Halongonan and 10 from Padang Bolak. The food packages were prepared using locally sourced ingredients to improve nutritional status and enhance family health resilience.

PKK Paluta Chairwoman, Ny. Refina Reski Basyah Harahap, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to working closely with local government to build a healthier, stunting-free generation. “This PMT program will run for 60 consecutive days starting November 1, 2025. We hope this support will truly help improve the nutritional intake of toddlers,” she said.

Addressing Stunting Risks

Representative of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office, Dedi Julhadi Hasibuan, stressed that toddlers who fail to gain weight must receive immediate attention, as this condition can be an early indicator of stunting if left untreated.

To tackle the issue, the Health Office continues to encourage both nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions through local health centers and community-based posyandu. Alongside PMT distribution, PKK also provided additional nutritious food supplies and organized educational sessions to raise parents’ awareness about child growth and development.

Cross-Sector Collaboration

The event was attended by Acting Head of Paluta Health Office Maralobi Siregar, sub-district heads of Padang Bolak and Halongonan, local health center leaders, PKK cadres, and mothers of the toddlers. Their presence underscored the importance of collective action in reducing stunting rates across Padang Lawas Utara.***
