BMKG Forecasts Widespread Rain Across Indonesia on Wednesday

Fajarasia.id– The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has predicted that much of Indonesia will experience wet weather on Wednesday, with light to moderate rainfall expected in numerous regions. Several major cities may also face thunderstorms, prompting BMKG to issue warnings for residents to remain cautious.

According to BMKG’s official Instagram account (@infobmkg), parts of Sumatra will see light showers, including Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, and Tanjung Pinang. Thunderstorms are likely in Padang and Pangkal Pinang, while Palembang is forecast to be foggy. Jambi and Bengkulu may experience light rain, and Bandar Lampung is expected to see moderate rainfall.

On Java Island, rain is predicted to fall evenly across Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Yogyakarta, mostly at light intensity. Surabaya, however, could be hit by moderate showers.

Weather conditions in Bali and Nusa Tenggara are expected to be relatively stable. Denpasar is forecast to be cloudy, Kupang will see heavy cloud cover, and Mataram may experience light rain.

Kalimantan is also set for wet conditions. Palangka Raya is likely to receive light rain, while Banjarmasin could see moderate showers. BMKG has also warned of potential thunderstorms in Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, and Samarinda.

In Sulawesi, six major cities—Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, Makassar, and Kendari—are expected to experience light rainfall.

Eastern Indonesia will not be spared either. Light rain is forecast for Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya. Sorong and Merauke may see moderate showers, while Nabire has been highlighted as a city at risk of thunderstorms.

BMKG urged the public to stay alert, particularly in areas prone to heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds, as weather conditions could disrupt daily activities and transportation.***
