PBNU: Mbak Puan Struggle for the Benefits of Mothers and Children Through the MCH Bill

Fajarasia.co – Chairman of the Tanfidziah Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Nasyirul Falah Amru (Gus Falah) appreciated the struggle of the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani so that the Draft Law on Maternal and Child Welfare (RUU KIA) was immediately discussed in the DPR.

Gus Falah stated that the MCH Bill was urgently needed for mothers and children in this country.

“Especially for female employees or workers, this bill means a lot to them. Because this bill, one of which regulates the addition of maternity and maternity leave for mothers, “said Gus Falah to reporters, Thursday (23/6/22)

In the draft of the Bill on Maternal and Child Welfare, Gus Falah added that later on, mothers who give birth will have the right to 6 months of leave, an increase from the current 3 months of leave.

According to Gus Falah, the regulation can bring mothers closer to their newborn children. The closeness of mother and child, for Gus Falah, is not an ordinary closeness.

“Mothers are protectors and protectors for children. There is a strong bond between mother and child, especially a newborn child. So that the 6 month leave accommodates that inner bond,” said Gus Falah.

“And as a mother, Ms. Puan must understand very well the inner atmosphere of a mother who has just given birth. So, his struggle for the MCH Bill is a struggle for the benefit of all Indonesian mothers and children,” said Gus Falah, who is also a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

As previously reported, the Speaker of the DPR-RI Puan Maharani stated that the MCH Bill would be fought for so that the closeness between mother and child after giving birth could be maximized, by increasing maternity and maternity leave for mothers, from three months to six months.

“3 months leave is enough, but if you can 6 months, why not. And the next 3 months, will it be WFH, still working, but with the baby. This is important. So that the closeness between mothers and children can be closer, they can provide more breast milk,” said Puan at the Festival of People’s Health Service Innovation to Avoid Stunting, at the PDI Perjuangan Lenteng Agung School, South Jakarta some time ago.****
