Fajarasia.co – The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, inaugurated the Banyumas Market, Central Java, which was recently rehabilitated by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). He hopes that the improvement of infrastructure at the Banyumas Market can further support the distribution of basic commodities and encourage regional MSMEs.
“The market is a place where we can measure and feel the strength and health of the people’s economy. When the market is crowded, God willing, the people’s economy will also be healthy,” said Puan at the Banyumas Market Inauguration, Wednesday (6/7/2022).
In this inauguration, Puan also signed the Banyumas Market inscription. According to him, a clean and adequate market from a physical point of view is very important so that traders and buyers feel comfortable when transacting.
“When a market is built that is not proper, or dirty and so on, it certainly becomes a reflection of the socio-economic conditions of the surrounding community. So I welcome the completion of the rehabilitation of the Banyumas Market building,” he said.
After being rehabilitated, the Banyumas Market, which was built on two floors, now has 81 stalls and 191 vegetable and meat stalls. Puan hopes that the cleanliness and comfort of the Banyumas Market will continue to be maintained.
“Now the place is clean, comfortable. If the buyers are more comfortable, they might stay in the market longer and God willing, they will spend more,” said Puan.
“To the Ministry of PUPR, after this inauguration, I ask that the condition of the building be monitored. If something is missing, please fix it immediately so that the traders here are still happy,” continued the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
After the inauguration ceremony, Puan immediately reviewed the condition of the Banyumas Market. The visitors and traders warmly welcomed Puan as she walked down the corridor of the kiosk.
At one of the stalls near the market door, Puan had a chance to talk to the owner. He asked if the kiosk owner got a strategic position because he paid to the manager.
“No (pay), Ma’am. This was drawn (to get a kiosk position). Now it is more comfortable and clean, “said the owner of the kiosk named Bu Sumi.
At Bu Sumi’s stall, Puan also shopped for vegetables. He buys vegetables such as mustard greens and long beans. Puan also shopped at several kiosks and other traders’ stalls while checking food stocks at the Banyumas Market, including chicken and meat.
“How is it now ma’am after the market is rehabilitated?” Puan asked the stall owner, Mrs. Kasmirah.
Mrs. Kasmirah, who sells processed spices, stated that currently Banyumas Market is clean, but it still feels hot. Puan then asked the Ministry of PUPR, which accompanies her, to address the complaints of traders, including the issue of air circulation.
“Mother and other traders have to keep it clean,” said Puan.
“Okay ma’am. Thank you for coming, I’m happy Alhamdulillah I was able to meet Mbak Puan. Hopefully, Ms. Puan will be able to become a leader,” said Mrs. Kasmirah.
On the 2nd floor of the market, Puan checks a stall selling cooking oil. He asked about the stock and price of cooking oil, including subsidized cooking oil.
Along the way, traders and visitors scrambled to greet Puan, who warmly welcomed her. Puan did not forget to keep reminding the Banyumas Market to be well maintained.
“Let’s together guard the Banyumas Market, keep it clean, keep it safe, maintain its comfort so that it becomes a blessing for all of us,” said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
