Full of Jokes, Puan Maharani Socializes Not Early Marriage to Balinese Teenagers

Fajarasia.co – The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has socialized the prevention of early marriage to teenagers in Bali. This is one of the efforts to overcome stunting or failure to grow children in Indonesia.

The activity, which was organized by the Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), was held in the Pecatu Traditional Village, Kuta Selaran, Badung Regency, Bali, Tuesday (30/8/2022). Puan was present accompanied by Deputy Chairperson of Commission IX of the DPR Charles Honoris, Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, and Head of the Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo.

Puan’s presence in the stunting prevention socialization event from Hulu through the Genre Festival (Generation Planning) was warmly welcomed by the participants, most of whom were high school students. At the event location, vaccination activities for the elderly were also held.

Welcomed by the Regent of Badung, the Regent of Badung, I Nyoman Giri Prasta, Puan at the same time opened the Genre Festival. There was also an award presentation to the Village Genre Ambassador which was won by 4 youths namely Arnoldus David Candin, Luh Gede Yuniasti Widhiasih Jorareis, Ni Nyoman Nadia Ayu Paramita, and I Komang Putra Adnyana.

“What is the job of a Genre Ambassador?” asked Mrs.

The Genre Ambassadors answered that they carried out socialization to youth so that they would not marry early, not have sex at a young age or have free sex, and not use narcotics. Duta Genre also provides socialization to prospective parents to prepare physically and mentally before marriage so that their children will grow up well.

“This is the most important thing to do, especially for young people. Because you have a life plan, you must pay attention to be prepared physically and mentally. Mentally also have to be ready. And this is related to stunting prevention. Women must also prepare themselves so that their children are healthy,” said Puan.

The first woman to serve as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives also emphasized the importance of the first 1,000 days of child growth. Puan then called one of the Genre Ambassadors to explain the importance of socializing to young people so that they are fully prepared before marriage.

“What should the young people do?” said Mrs.

Luh Gede Yuniasti Widhiasih Jorareis, who is usually called Jora, said that one of their programs is to provide socialization at village levels to youth. They also have a discussion program with the bride and groom.

“Socialization on what stunting is so that prospective parents can understand and take precautions,” said Jora.

Puan also explained about the characteristics of stunting to the event participants. He then invited several teenagers to come on stage to answer his questions. The participants of the event scrambled forward to get prizes.

“It’s a very difficult question, like a working meeting at the DPR,” joked Puan, to laughter from the audience.

Puan asked I Kadek Arya Yudha Saputra, a student of SMK 2 South Kuta about the age limit for marriage for women and men. Arya was also able to answer well that women should not marry and have children before the age of 21 years, and for men 25 years.

To Arya, Puan welcomes her if she has any questions.

“What is the work of the Chairwoman of the DPR, Mrs. Puan?” said Arya, greeted by laughter from Puan and the participants.

Puan then explained about the duties of the DPR, including supervising the government’s work program as is being done today.

“You’re really confident aren’t you? That’s your friends a lot of screaming your name. Are you famous for being handsome at school?” said Mrs.

“The important thing is to be confident, ma’am,” said Arya, who again made the atmosphere lively.

Puan also expressed how happy she was to attend this event. He praised the enthusiasm of the young people who, according to him, would become superior human resources (HR) in the future.

“Your spirit makes my heart happy. Indonesia progresses must work together, including with you young people. Because you can decide what Indonesia wants to be like. Do you want to go forward, or just like now, “said Puan.

“You’re Gen Z, if the alphabet is on the last letter. In fact, I see Gen Z as the starting point of Indonesia’s heyday, yes through teenagers who will follow the times. Because you are the golden generation who are prepared to be great, smart and can carry the name of Indonesia,” continued the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Puan also praised the Balinese young people who are good at public speaking. Moreover, they can appear with a high enough confidence.

“I can become a campaigner later in 2024,” joked Puan again.

To the BKKBN, the grandson of the Indonesian Proclaimer Bung Karno hoped that the Genre socialization would be carried out until it entered schools and campuses. That way, the next generation of the nation can understand various things related to stunting prevention, including not getting married at a young age.

“I ask for socialization to high school children and on campuses. Because they will be our next golden generation,” he appealed.

Meanwhile, the Head of BKKBN Hasto Wardoyo revealed that it is very important for young people to know information on stunting prevention. Because today’s youth groups will give birth to the nation’s next generation.****
