Fajarasia.id – The Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has officially appointed Syahrul Aidi Maazat as its new Chair, replacing Mardani Ali Sera. The decision was made during the BKSAP Plenary Meeting held at the Diplomacy Room, Nusantara III Building, Senayan, chaired by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI for Politics and Security Coordination, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
This leadership transition is part of an internal reorganization aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of Indonesia’s parliamentary diplomacy amid increasingly complex global dynamics. Syahrul Aidi, a member of the PKS faction and Commission I of the DPR RI, is expected to bring fresh energy in addressing international issues that demand Indonesia’s active role.
In his inaugural remarks, Syahrul highlighted the importance of Indonesia’s parliament in responding to global challenges. He drew attention to humanitarian crises, particularly the ongoing tragedy in Gaza and the prolonged conflict in Sudan.
“Indonesia has consistently rejected all forms of colonialism. The struggle to realize a legitimate Palestinian government will continue to be voiced in international forums,” he affirmed.
Syahrul emphasized that BKSAP carries a major responsibility to ensure Indonesia’s position remains strong and respected in global affairs. He noted that parliamentary diplomacy must address not only political and security issues but also trade, economy, climate change, migration, humanitarian concerns, and sustainable development.
According to him, BKSAP plays a strategic role as a bridge between parliaments worldwide, representing Indonesia in bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums with a constitutional mandate and the aspirations of the people.
“Global challenges cannot be faced in isolation. With collective strength, I believe BKSAP will continue to stand at the forefront of respected parliamentary diplomacy,” Syahrul stated.
Syahrul expressed deep appreciation for the collective work carried out by BKSAP thus far, stressing that the success of parliamentary diplomacy depends not only on organizational structure but also on commitment, perseverance, and synergy among all members.
He hopes his leadership will serve as a momentum to strengthen BKSAP’s foundation and expand Indonesia’s diplomatic networks across regions.
The plenary meeting reaffirmed DPR RI’s commitment, particularly through BKSAP, to advancing parliamentary diplomacy that prioritizes national interests while contributing to global stability. With Syahrul Aidi at the helm, BKSAP is optimistic about reinforcing Indonesia’s role in promoting peace, conflict resolution, economic cooperation, and sustainable development worldwide.*****
