Elpi Nazmuzaman, Ridwan Kamil’s younger brother, confirmed that his brother’s son, Emmeril Khan Mumtadz or commonly called Eril, had an accident in Bern, Switzerland on May 26, 2022, at noon Swiss time.
Elpi said that the family was in Switzerland at that time looking for a school for Eril who would continue her master’s degree. At the time of the incident, Ridwan Kamil himself was in England on government activities abroad with a delegation from the West Java Provincial Government.
“Eril’s condition is currently still being searched by the SAR team and the Swiss police. However, the search was temporarily suspended because it was getting dark and the plan was to continue tomorrow morning (today),” Elpi told reporters, Friday (27/6/2022) .
“Until this information is submitted, the search has been running for 6 hours and we hope that Eril can be found soon in good health,” he continued.
Elpi also told the chronology of the event. Before missing, said Elpi, Eril swam in the Aaree river, Bern with his sister and friends. When he wanted to rise to the surface, Eril was dragged by a fairly swift current of a river that had previously received help from his friend.
“The incident occurred on May 26, 2022 at noon Swiss time with sunny weather conditions,” he said.
Elpi also expressed his gratitude for the attention and assistance from the Indonesian embassy in Switzerland as well as the local police who are continuously trying to find Eril’s whereabouts.
