Fajarasia.co – The commitment of the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, to oversee the phrase 6-month maternity leave in the Maternal and Child Welfare Bill (RUU KIA) continues to be a concern in the public sphere.
Puan hopes that the leave clause in this bill will be able to maximize the growth and development of children after birth, so that problems such as stunting (chronic nutrition) can be avoided.
Member of Commission IX of the DPR RI, Arzeti Bilbina, sees the proposal as a form of appreciation for women in Indonesia.
Especially, he continued, in order to provide opportunities for mothers to be able to educate and care for their babies to the fullest.
“I really appreciate the appreciation for women giving birth to be given the opportunity to be able to educate, care for and provide exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months of leave,” said Arzetti to the media crew, in Jakarta, Monday (20/6/2022).
He hopes that with this period of time, he can print future generations with good growth and development.
“This means that the next generation is the golden generation where at the beginning of its growth the government has given a lot of flexibility to take care of it,” said a politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction.
If growth and development and nutrition can be met properly, Arzeti believes, the stunting problem that occurs in Indonesia will gradually reduce in number.
“I am very sure that the problems that occurred to our children yesterday were due to a lack of time for their mothers to give the best, where the golden moment was at the time of birth,” he said.
“So, in the future with good regulations that the government has done to bring a good generation. It will soon be felt for the future,” concluded the woman of Minangkabau blood.
As reported, the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, expressed her commitment to pushing the Maternal and Child Welfare Bill (MCH) to be completed this year. The MCH Bill has been included in the priority prolegnas for 2022.
The MCH Bill focuses on the golden age of a child, which is a crucial period of child growth and development which is often associated with the first 1,000 days of life (HPK) as a determinant of a child’s future.
