Indonesia to Build Massive Rp4.8 Trillion Cattle Farms in West and East Java

Fajarasia.id  – The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Food Agency (Bapanas), is preparing to establish two large-scale integrated cattle farms with a total investment of Rp4.8 trillion. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen national food security.

Minister of Agriculture and Head of Bapanas, Amran Sulaiman, revealed that each farm will be worth Rp2.4 trillion and designed as a fully integrated operation, covering everything from feed supply to milk and beef production.

“The cattle farm in East Java will be located in Probolinggo Regency, while the one in West Java will be in Indramayu,” Amran told reporters in Jakarta on Friday (Nov 21, 2025).

Amran emphasized that the cattle farm project is distinct from the previously announced Rp20 trillion integrated poultry farm plan. “This cattle project has a separate budget. There are two dedicated sites for cattle,” he clarified.

The government expects the mega cattle farms to significantly increase domestic beef and milk production, reduce reliance on imports, create new jobs, and strengthen the national food supply chain.

This strategic move is part of Indonesia’s long-term agenda to reinforce the agricultural sector through sustainable and integrated investments aimed at achieving greater self-sufficiency.****
