Fajarasia.id – Indonesia’s Minister of Investment and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, to discuss potential investment collaborations. The talks, held in Jakarta, focused on downstream alumina projects in West Kalimantan as well as other strategic sectors.
Rosan highlighted alumina processing as one of Indonesia’s priority investment opportunities. “One of the key areas we presented was alumina downstreaming in West Kalimantan, which is already in our pipeline,” he told reporters after the meeting.
While the UAE has invested heavily in renewable energy, Rosan emphasized that Indonesia sees broader opportunities for cooperation. He invited UAE investors to participate in alumina projects and also pointed to waste management initiatives. “We recently launched seven projects, and more will follow. They have shown interest in joining these efforts,” he said.
The discussion also touched on data center development, reflecting Indonesia’s growing demand for digital infrastructure. According to Rosan, the UAE delegation shared ideas on how both countries could pursue joint ventures in this sector.
Beyond alumina and waste management, the UAE expressed interest in infrastructure investment. Rosan noted that UAE partners are keen on collaborating with Danantara in port development, both within Indonesia and abroad. “They already have strong experience in port management, so we will continue these discussions further,” he explained.
He added that the dialogue would be followed up to ensure concrete implementation.
Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei underscored the UAE’s readiness to support Indonesia’s infrastructure needs. “Indonesia requires significant investment in infrastructure, and we are eager to contribute as partners,” he said.
He acknowledged that while the UAE has invested in certain sectors, the potential in Indonesia is far greater. “We hope to increase our investments and bring new projects that will create more jobs and energy for the Indonesian people,” Suhail added.
