Indonesia and UAE Sign Initial Agreement on EdTech Cooperation, Witnessed by President Prabowo

Fajarasia.id  – Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have taken a significant step toward strengthening educational collaboration. President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the exchange of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, marking the beginning of a partnership in educational technology (EdTech).

The signing ceremony was held on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital in Solo, Central Java.

Strengthening Islamic Education Through Technology

The LoI reflects a shared commitment to enhance the quality of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. The Khalifa Foundation’s global mission to support humanitarian, development, and educational initiatives aligns with the Ministry’s mandate to improve governance, competitiveness, and academic standards in religious education.

Both parties emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation to drive digital transformation, pedagogical innovation, and the creation of technology-based learning environments.

Hospital Inauguration as a Symbol of Bilateral Ties

Earlier in the day, President Prabowo inaugurated the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital (KEI), a facility funded through a grant from the UAE government worth approximately Rp 417.3 billion (USD 25 million).

“With this, we officially open the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital,” Prabowo declared during the ceremony. He noted that the hospital project was initiated under former President Joko Widodo’s administration and expressed gratitude for being the one to officiate its completion.

“This hospital was one of President Jokowi’s initiatives. I feel fortunate to be the one inaugurating it—destiny cannot be denied,” he added.

UAE Delegation in Attendance

Prabowo was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Presidential Office for Development and Martyrs Affairs. Sheikh Theyab, son of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, underscored the strong bilateral ties between the two nations in both healthcare and education.
