Cooking Oil is Still Expensive in Palangkaraya

Fajarasia.co – The price of cooking oil (migor) in Palangkaraya City, Central Kalimantan is still expensive.

This is as RRI has observed in traditional markets. Where, traders choose to spend stock that has already been purchased at an expensive price.

Margono, one of the basic food traders at the Palangkaraya traditional market, said that his party had not yet received subsidized cooking oil from the government, so the selling price of cooking oil still used the initial capital when buying, which was sold for Rp. 20,000 per liter. The impact is that prices vary, automatically confusing consumers and affecting income.

“I hope that the government will accelerate the distribution of cheap cooking oil to a number of traders, so that the selling price can be adjusted, while depleting the old stock of cooking oil,” he said, Saturday (28/5/2022).

The price of cooking oil at the retail and modern market levels has returned to normal. Price variations start from Rp. 15 thousand to Rp. 20 thousand per liter, with restrictions on consumers being only allowed to buy as much as 2 liters, and they are not allowed to take wholesale actions.

Head of the Industry and Trade Office of Palangkaraya City, Rawang, when confirmed, admitted that controlling one cooking oil price in the market was difficult to implement, because there were hundreds of stalls of traders with different characters. It is different with the policy of changing fuel rates at gas stations, which are easy to regulate.

“What can be done is to ensure the availability of stocks of nine basic ingredients, one of which is cooking oil until the month of Ramadan is still safe for the community,” he said. *****
