According to Puan, the activities of the nation’s young generation must be accommodated, especially since this phenomenon has spread to various regions, such as Bandung, Surabaya and Malang.
“Even if Citayam Fashion Week in Dukuh Atas must be closed for reasons of traffic jams, security and order, then we must find another conducive place so that the creative energy of young people can still be channeled,” said Puan in Jakarta, Wednesday (27/7/2022). ).
Puan asked the government, especially local governments, to increase public spaces that are conducive for young people to be creative, such as Citayam Fashion Week (CFW).
“Public spaces must be safe, comfortable and inclusive. This means that all citizens from various circles have the same right to access the public space, without discriminating against background,” said Bung Karno’s grandson.
However, said Puan, an inclusive public space also requires the enforcement of rules, both legal and ethical rules that are upheld together.
“So, apart from being free to access public space by all citizens from various backgrounds, citizens must also obey the applicable rules. From this conducive public space, creativity and even new creative ideas will emerge,” he said.
Furthermore, Puan appealed to young people who are active in CFW activities and the like which are starting to bloom in various regions, should not forget about formal education.
“You can be creative, but don’t leave school. Because formal schools will provide a strong foundation for young people to carry out creative activities,” said Puan.
Puan said that in the revision of the National Education System Law (Sisdiknas), the House of Representatives and the Government are currently seeking education guarantees for the nation’s children for up to 12 years, or up to SMA/SMK or equivalent.
“So, God willing, every child of the nation will get the same guaranteed right to access education for 12 years. The cost of education will be borne by the state,” he said.*****
