The head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, emphasized that in addition to gambling, online fraud, and fraudulent investments, the law will also be prosecuted.
“Online gambling, online fraud, fraudulent investments, which are related to using our internet network are still being processed and these are handled by the cyber directorate,” he said, Tuesday (25/5/2022).
According to him, related to the crime of violating the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE), the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police has revealed many cases.
“We have said a lot,” he continued.
Online slot gambling advertisements are also scattered in cyberspace and social media. The Bareskrim Polri has ordered all its staff to eradicate online slot gambling advertisements.
“There has been a TR (Telegram) order at the Kabareskrim to the Regional Police and the ranks,” said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo.
Specifically for online slot gambling, the ITE Law ensnares perpetrators and people who distribute gambling content with the threat of a maximum imprisonment of six years and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 1 billion.***
