The theme of International Customs Day 2023 is “Feeding the Next Generation”. This theme is an event to promote professional pride in the culture and practices of knowledge sharing.

Referred to as WCO or World Customs Organization, International Customs Day has been initiated by the World Customs Organization (WCO) since 1983. The WCO is an independent intergovernmental organization whose role is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of customs administration.

The WCO was founded in 1952 as the Customs Cooperation Council. International Customs Day is a form of celebration for all customs officers and customs authorities.

On January 26, 1953, the CCC was established by a founding council. The organization also established International Customs Day in 1983.

The CCC became a global organization and changed its name to WCO in 1994. WCO headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium.
