Puan: Coffee Unites Us When We're Hanging Out

Fajarasia.co – Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, assessed that Indonesian coffee is not only a delicious drink, but also a drink that can unite the nation’s children. Therefore, he asked the nation’s children, especially the younger generation, to continue to promote Indonesian coffee.

“We are one nation, one homeland, and coffee is the one that unites us when we are together. Coffee unites us when we are discussing, including discussions about the nation and state,” said Puan.

“I hope that this activity can be a place to strengthen our sense of nationalism and mutual cooperation as a nation. For that, let’s toast coffee to advance the country,” said Puan as she raised her red glass, followed by thousands of participants.

To note, red pickled coffee is the standard for quality coffee. Red, ripe, sweet coffee cherries will lead to high-quality coffee beans as well. Red picks are usually known for specialty coffee.****

This was conveyed by Puan when opening the Indonesian Coffee Festival at Gelora Bung Karno, Friday (27/5/2022). Present in the series of events commemorating the 49th Anniversary of the PDI-P were Coordinating Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Harvick Hasnul Qolbi, and members of the DPP and the PDI-P faction in the DPR.

In the event, Puan revealed how she and her family promote Indonesian coffee, namely by giving Indonesian coffee souvenirs to state guests.

“Me and Megawati when giving souvenirs to country guests give coffee, it has the words ‘Indonesian Coffee’,” said Puan to the applause of thousands of audience.

The first woman to become Chair of the DPR also hopes that the nation’s children, especially the younger generation, will choose coffee as a souvenir to give to friends and family.

“Surely after being asked, the coffee smells good and tastes great, where did this come from?” said Mrs.

Furthermore, Puan hopes that the emergence of a coffee-drinking lifestyle, driven by young Indonesians, can help improve the welfare of farmers and further promote Indonesian coffee to foreign countries.

“Coffee is the work of the nation’s children, coffee is Indonesia, coffee is young people,” said Puan, who appeared casual in a red hat.

On that occasion, Puan also led a coffee toast from the red pickled cultivation. The toast, which was attended by thousands of participants in a hybrid way, is expected to break the MURI record.

“We will make a toast to enjoy coffee from red pickled cultivation, so the price for farmers is better, processors can also maintain standards, and the general public can enjoy healthy and quality coffee,” he said.
