MTN Case, Chairman of Commission III is considered Unfinished

Fajarasia.co – Jonas Salean as Head of Commission III of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) DPRD, assessed the problem of buying MTN by Bank NTT worth Rp. 50 billion is not finished yet.

“The MTN problem at Bank NTT has not been resolved. Not clear yet. The money used in the purchase of the MTN does not belong to the shareholders, but it is people’s money in the APBD which is deposited in the form of equity participation,” said Jonas Salean when met at the NTT Provincial DPRD office, Tuesday (07/06/2022).

According to the former Mayor of Kupang, however, the Shareholders considered the case a business risk. But this problem does not just end.

Therefore, he continued, his party will ask for an Examination Report (LHP) of the Republic of Indonesia’s Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) representing NTT regarding the purchase of Medium Term Notes (MTN) or Medium Term Notes of PT. Sunprima Nusantara Financing (SNP) worth 50 billion in 2018 by Bank NTT.

“We will meet with BPK RI representatives of NTT to ask LHP to look at the MTN issue at Bank NTT. Everything related to this issue will be seen and discussed by Commission III,” he said.

As an example, the case of NTT Fair, which was initially said to be a business risk, was due to bad loans. But in fact the person responsible has been imprisoned.

“How come the MTN issue is only called a business risk and then it just ends,” he said.

Another example, said Jonas, was in 2020 the same legal event with different legal subjects also occurred in Medan. Purchase of MTN PT. SNP by Bank SUMUT has been sued by the Medan High Court on behalf of the Defendant Maulana Akhyar Lubis (Head of Treasury Division) and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Panel of Judges at the Medan Corruption Court No. 41/PID.SUS-TPK/2020/PN MDN then sentenced with a verdict Proved Guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption with a criminal sentence of 10 years. This decision was later upheld by the Medan High Court No. 29/PID.SUS-TPK/2020/PT MDN.

To note, in the examination of the management of Third Party Funds (DPK) in 2018 and 2019 at PT Bank NTT, BPK RI found three problems, one of which was regarding the purchase of MTN PT. SNP worth IDR 50 billion in 2018. This finding is stated in the BPK RI Audit Result Report Number 1/LHP/XIX.KUP/01/2020 dated January 14, 2020.

From the results of document examination and interviews on the purchase of MTN, it is known that the purchase of MTN securities is not included in the PT Bank NTT bank business plan in 2017 or 2018.

However, PT Bank NTT continued to purchase MTN worth IDR 50 billion without any due diligence or due diligence to assess the performance of the MTN issuer (PT SNP).

Based on the results of the BPK RI examination, the purchase of PT SNP’s MTN has the potential to harm PT Bank NTT of IDR 50 billion and the potential loss of income on the coupon rate of IDR 10.5 billion. (rey)
