Fajarasia.id – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued an official statement regarding a report filed against its Head of Investigation Task Force, AKBP Rossa Purbo Bekti, to the Supervisory Board (Dewas). The report, submitted by the Indonesian Student Activist Coalition (KAMI), alleged ethical violations in handling the bribery case involving a road construction project in North Sumatra, which has been linked in public discourse to Governor Bobby Nasution.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stressed that the legal process remains on track and is being further developed. “We assure that investigation, prosecution, and trial proceedings are running properly,” he said in a written statement.
Budi explained that the case, which began with a sting operation (OTT), has expanded through witness examinations and searches at multiple locations. Investigators discovered indications of procurement manipulation across several districts and municipalities in North Sumatra.
“Every OTT often becomes an entry point for KPK to uncover similar corruption practices in other sectors,” Budi noted.
KAMI coordinator Yusril Skaimudin accused Rossa of obstructing justice, pointing to the fact that Bobby Nasution has not yet been questioned despite media coverage and court proceedings highlighting his alleged role. KAMI urged Dewas to conduct a thorough ethics review to restore public trust.
Responding to this, Budi emphasized that no evidence has been found linking Bobby to the case. “Up to this point, none,” he stated.
According to Budi, case files have been declared complete (P21) and submitted to the Medan District Court. Trials for the bribery givers have already commenced, while hearings for the recipients are pending scheduling.
The Medan Anti-Corruption Court previously requested prosecutors to summon Bobby Nasution as a witness, citing his knowledge of budget reallocations at the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) office. However, KPK clarified that such a summons has not yet been scheduled and will depend on evidence presented during the upcoming recipient trials.
KPK earlier named five suspects in the case:
- Topan Obaja Putra Ginting (TOP) – Head of PUPR North Sumatra
- Rasuli Efendi Siregar (RES) – Head of UPTD Gunung Tua, PUPR North Sumatra
- Heliyanto (HEL) – Commitment-Making Official, PJN Region I North Sumatra
- M. Akhirun Efendi Siregar (KIR) – President Director of PT DNG
- M. Rayhan Dulasmi Pilang (RAY) – Director of PT RN
The total value of the road projects under investigation is estimated at Rp231.8 billion.***
