Fajarasia.co – Political observer and CEO & Founder of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting Pangi Syarwi Chaniago said that Indonesia’s future leaders must be people who have ideology and are close to the people.
According to him, not a figure who only capitalizes on electability and popularity. Rather, it must also be strong in political parties (Parpol).
“We don’t want our presidential candidate to be not strong in political parties, only to use political parties as vehicles for temporary interests which are then abandoned. So that it seems that the existence of political parties is just playing games, transactional-pragmatic,” said Pangi, in Jakarta. Jakarta, Monday (27/7).
When asked about Puan Maharani’s safari activities to a number of areas? Ipang said that it was part of Puan Maharani’s way of absorbing aspirations and conveying her ideas about Indonesia in the future.
“That (safari, ed) is part of the effort, introducing ourselves and conveying the idea that is in her mind that this is how we think about Indonesia,” said Ipang.
On the other hand, Ipang considers that as a party cadre, the ideology and character of Puan Maharani cannot be doubted. Now, he continued, how can Puan Maharani do much by understanding what the people’s hopes and desires are. Because, electability, acceptability and popularity are just a bonus, not the main goal.
“Because people will ask questions, not about knowing or not. But about what ideas you give to the condition of the people today. That’s when they will catch what kind of leader they want and need in the future,” he said.
“So, you must understand the context and taste, the taste that is the desire of the people,” he concluded.***
