Fajarasia.id– A video of cows running loose on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road at Kilometer 58 went viral on social media today. The incident briefly disrupted traffic flow as vehicles were forced to stop while police and toll road officers worked to manage the situation.
In the footage circulating online, motorists can be seen halting their vehicles as the animals blocked lanes. The cows reportedly escaped after a collision involving a truck and a vehicle transporting livestock.
Chronology of the Incident
According to AKP Sandy Titah Nugraha, Head of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road Patrol Unit (PJR), the accident occurred when the livestock carrier traveling from Jakarta to Cikampek attempted to avoid a sudden brake from the vehicle ahead. “The driver swerved left to avoid a collision, while a truck behind failed to maintain a safe distance and swerved right,” Sandy explained.
The maneuver caused the truck’s left side to hit the rear right of the livestock vehicle, forcing its back door open. “As a result, two cows jumped onto the main toll lane, disrupting traffic flow,” Sandy added.
Police officers and toll road personnel quickly intervened to secure the animals and restore order. While traffic was briefly affected, conditions returned to normal after the cows were contained.
The unusual incident sparked widespread attention online, with netizens sharing the viral video and commenting on the rare sight of livestock running freely on one of Indonesia’s busiest toll roads.****
