Fajarasia.id – A shocking incident that went viral on social media occurred in Cipinang Besar Selatan, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon (Nov 13). Two young children were run over by a car while playing in an open area, sustaining serious injuries. Police have now released the full chronology of the event.
According to AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of Traffic Law Enforcement at Polda Metro Jaya, the accident happened around 3:00 p.m. local time. At that moment, a driver identified by the initials PA (22) was maneuvering his vehicle into a parking lot on Jalan Cipinang Jaya.
As the car turned, PA reportedly failed to notice four children playing nearby. Two of them, CDPK (10) and AAS (2), were positioned closest to the vehicle and were struck.
Condition of the Victims
Both children suffered injuries in several parts of their bodies:
- CDPK (10): laceration on the right temple, cut on the left cheek, abrasion on the waist
- AAS (2): cut on the left leg, bruises on the right leg, facial abrasions
They were immediately rushed to RS Persahabatan Hospital in East Jakarta for treatment. Fortunately, their condition has improved and both have since been discharged.
Case Resolved Amicably
Police initially secured the vehicle, driver’s license, and registration documents as evidence. However, after clarification and communication between the victims’ families and the driver, the case was settled through mediation and family consensus.
Viral Video Sparks Concern
The incident gained widespread attention after a video circulated on Instagram via the account @kabar.jaktim. The footage showed four children squatting and playing before two of them were hit by a car entering the parking area.
The video triggered public concern and questions about what really happened. In response, Polda Metro Jaya issued an official statement to clarify the chronology and calm residents.****
