Fajarasia.co – Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Prof. Dr. Sjarifuddin Hasan, MM, MBA (Syarief Hasan) appreciated the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom (UK) for choosing the Province of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) as the area for expanding their research on renewable energy.
“This university is known to have high expertise in renewable energy research. So, they chose South Sulawesi because they saw the great potential that South Sulawesi has. They are very aware of that,” he said.
This was conveyed by Syarief Hasan, after accompanying Dr. Bagus P Muljadi, Dr. Lousie Walker, David Ouchterlonie and Shannon Baverstock, members of the University of Nottingham delegation, met the Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman at the Governor’s Office House, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, Wednesday (8/6/2022).
Furthermore, the MPR leader from the Democratic Party said, South Sulawesi was indeed awarded a land rich in natural resources. One of them is nickel. “From that meeting, the Governor was very supportive. I think it was very good. The positive impact was extraordinary, namely that local governments knew in detail the potential of their natural wealth from the results of global research,” he added.
The Professor of Strategic Management of Cooperatives and MSMEs really hopes that the research that will be produced will make a high contribution to the acceleration of development in the field of energy technology. And in the end it will improve the welfare of the people of South Sulawesi.
On the same occasion, the Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said that later in its implementation, the University of Nottingham will cooperate with universities in South Sulawesi to conduct research on renewable energy.
“Synergy between universities is very important because they can exchange knowledge and apply it in the field. Thank God, now many researchers and researchers from world campuses are starting to look at the area from previously only focusing on Java. We as a regional government and represent the people of South Sulawesi, are very proud to then work together as well as possible,” he concluded.****
