Fajarasia.co – PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri assigned PDIP DPP Chair Puan Maharani who is also the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives for a political safari which was seen as a signal of support for presidential candidates (Capres) in the 2024 presidential election. This was to establish communication with political parties ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
Executive Director of Indonesia Politic Opinion (IPO) Dedi Kurnia Syah assessed this as a strong signal that the PDIP was preparing Puan Maharani to contest the 2024 presidential election.
“Puan’s departure from communicating with elites of other political parties also strengthens the suspicion that PDIP has directed support to Puan as a presidential candidate in 2024,” said Dedi when contacted, Wednesday (20/7/2022).
In addition to preparing Puan as a presidential candidate from PDIP, the assignment is considered to be to explore the dynamics of the coalition that she will later lead.
According to him, it will also make Puan’s figure even more reckoned with.
“This is a strong sign that Puan is ready to conduct cross-party consolidation, as well as undergoing a regeneration process from the chairperson of Megawati, and indeed this is a special task that Puan must carry out,” he said.
“This safari is needed to target prospective coalition partners, although PDIP is quite strong and exceeds the portion of other political parties in carrying out presidential candidates, coalitions are still needed to make the work of the political party machines easier,” he continued.
Previously, Puan Maharani had informed Megawati of her new assignment to take care of exploring the coalition.
According to him, the assessment will begin soon, considering that the PDIP National Working Meeting (Rakernas) has ended.
“Later on, I will also be assigned by the general chairman as Chair of the DPR to be in touch with all the general chairmen. and yesterday we just finished the National Working Meeting. It’s just a matter of time,” said Puan at the Nusantara Fish Grill Festival by PDIP on Saturday (25/6).
Not only a new task, Puan also stated that PDIP will build cooperation with various political parties. Even though he has met the presidential threshold, according to him, PDIP still needs cooperation with other parties in terms of building the nation.***
