Fajarasia.co – Researcher from the Institute for Economic and Community Research (LPEM) Universitas Indonesia Riyanto assessed that the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) together with all levels of the Ministry of Agriculture succeeded in increasing national rice production.
According to him, this is proven, for the last three years, Indonesia has not imported rice.
“Usually Indonesia imports. But in the last three years I have seen that our rice is sufficient, it even tends to be in a surplus. Everything can be controlled and in the last three years we have stopped importing,” said Riyanto, Sunday (22/5/2022).
The agricultural sector, he said, was the most strategic in realizing a sovereign Indonesia from any aspect. Including aspects of security and order. Because, without food, everyone will be confused and the country can go bankrupt.
“I think Indonesia’s position is quite good and progressing faster than usual. We have sufficient food and everything can be controlled. This is proof of the smart work of a SYL Minister with all levels of the Ministry of Agriculture. He can complete all directives and orders of President Jokowi,” he said.
The Head of the Banten Province Agriculture Service, Agus Tauhid said, thank you for the attention of the Minister of SYL to the development of national agriculture, especially agriculture in Banten Province.
He emphasized that the attention of President Joko Widodo and Minister of Agriculture SYL to the progress of the agricultural sector was very large, so that the production and welfare of farmers increased over time.
“I am sure and very optimistic that agriculture under the direction of the President and also the Minister of SYL can make Indonesia a developing country. Our agriculture will be more powerful, advanced, independent and modern,” he said.
Separately, President Jokowi stated that this achievement must be maintained, even increased.
“What we usually import is 1.5 million to 2 million tons per year, for the past 3 years we have not. This must be maintained, thankfully we can increase the stock. This means that farmers’ productivity must be increased,” said the Head of State.*****
