Visiting Fish Crafts Village in Majalengka, Puan Joins to Help Make Presto Milkfish

Fajarasia.co – Starting his second working day tour in West Java, the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, visited Majalengka Regency. He also visited the village of processed fish craftsmen in Jati Tujuh District.

Puan’s presence at the Prosperous Fish Randegan Cooperative, Majalengka, Thursday (22/9/2022), was warmly welcomed by hundreds of residents. The people of one village in this area are producers of milkfish and processed fish products such as Presto Milkfish, Pindang, fish ball crackers, to Pepes.

The first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives then saw the process of processing milkfish at the house of Mrs. Maryati, who is the Chair of the Randengan Sejahtera Fish Cooperative. Not only seeing, Puan also helped prepare the fish to be processed into Milkfish Presto and other processed products.

After checking the fish processing in Mrs. Maryati’s kitchen, Puan then met with the fish processing craftsmen for a dialogue. According to residents, they need 7 tons of fish for 277 members when doing production.

“I have seen the process. The problem is there is no cold storage. I saw that the storage was too long. Later we will send cold storage assistance,” said Puan.

A number of residents expressed their aspirations and hopes for the fish processing industry in Majalengka to be more advanced. Puan also mentioned the main problems that are generally faced by the downstream sector of the fish processing industry, namely business capital, packaging, and sales.

“Those three problems must have a solution from the Government and also the members of the Council,” said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Regarding business capital, Puan assessed that MSME actors should be given financial assistance from the state. In addition, the government can also connect fish processing industry players with financial institutions with light requirements.

“And about packaging, training must be carried out because this is related to branding which can often make a product sold expensive or not,” he said.

Meanwhile, regarding sales, it is said that processed fish craftsmen need to get massive liaison assistance with Bali Bali.

“In fact, technological advances such as online markets must be utilized. Don’t forget that the logistics distribution must also be tidied up,” concluded Puan.****
