Vietnam inaugurates a glass bridge that challenges the guts

Fajarasia.co – A mountain resort in Vietnam has operated a glass-floored bridge above a height of 150 meters to attract thrill-seeking tourists.

The suspension bridge named Bach Long (White Dragon) is located in Son La Province, which borders Laos.

“I dare not look down because I am afraid of heights,” said one visitor, 22-year-old Vi Thi Thu.

He ventured across the bridge after attending the opening ceremony on Saturday (28/5) which was enlivened by a lion dance performance.

The glass used on the bridge consists of three layers, each 40 mm thick, and is capable of holding up to 450 people at a time, according to a statement by the management.

The 290-meter-long bridge spans over the ravine, plus a 342-meter-long pathway on the cliff side.

According to Glen Pollard, a representative of the Guinness World Records world record agency who attended the opening, the technique used to build the bridge on the side of the cliff while taking into account the features of nature, trees, rocks, is extraordinary.

Guinness World Records still places a similar bridge in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province, China, as the longest in the world.

Meanwhile, a similar body, the World Record Association, has named the glass bridge in Vietnam the longest in the world with a total span of 632 meters.

Another visitor who was present at the opening ceremony admitted that at first they were horrified when they walked on the bridge.

“At first it makes us panic, but then when we walk past 10 glass panels, the feeling goes away,” said Tran Xuan Tinh, 72.****
