The SAR Team is still searching for the TKI Carrier Ship that sank in Batam Waters

Fajarasia.co – The Tanjung Pinang Search and Rescue (SAR) office is still searching for seven victims missing in the marine accident that sank the Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) carrier in Batam waters.

“We have carried out the search for two days, so we continue today, there are six ships that are driven by the community,” said Head of the Tanjungpinang Search and Rescue (SAR) Office Slamet Riyadi, Sunday (19/6/2022).

Slamet said that his party had expanded the search radius from the location of the starting point of the incident. This search involved KN SAR Purworejo with seven crew members, SAR Batam, TNI AL personnel Lanal Batam, Ditpolair Polda Kepri, KSOP Batam, Bakamla, Customs and Excise and BP2MI to the local community.

Previously, a speed boat that was suspected of carrying 30 illegal PMIs sank in the waters of Putri Island, Batam, Thursday (16/6/2022) at around 19.00 WIB.

“We got information from the number of people there are 30,” he added.

A total of 23 people were rescued and have now been handed over to the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) for further examination. While 7 other people are missing.****
