Tens of hectares of agricultural land were damaged by floods in Mamasa

Fajarasia.co – Community agricultural land in Pangandaran Village, Tabuhanan District, Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar) was damaged by floods.

Heavy rains that occurred in the Mamasa Regency area, Thursday, at around 14.00 WITA, damaged the rice fields belonging to the community due to flooding that came accompanied by mud.

Tens of hectares of community-owned agricultural land in Pangandaran Village, Tabuhanan District, Mamasa Regency, are damaged and threatened with crop failure.

“Flood water suddenly came from the top of the mountain, accompanied by mud, damaging the community’s rice farming land up to tens of hectares, so that rice plants were damaged and farmers were threatened with crop failure,” said Hapri, one of the Pangandaran Village officials, Friday (17/6/2022).

He said, in addition to destroying the residents’ agricultural land, the flood also caused the livestock to be washed away and caused losses to the residents.

The flood that occurred was the biggest flood because it almost damaged the agricultural crops of residents in Pangandaran Village.

“Farmers are estimated to suffer losses in the hundreds of millions due to this flood, because the damaged agricultural land is quite extensive,” he said.

He asked the Mamasa Regency government and the West Sulawesi government to review the location of the flood in Pangandaran Village and help people whose agricultural land was affected by the flood.****
