Fajarasia.co – Police officers from the Rejang Lebong Resort, Bengkulu, were forced to shoot a suspected robber to death for resisting when officers were about to arrest him.
“Even though the police paralyzed the robbers by shooting them in the legs, the man who did not have an identity still resisted by swinging his knife at the members,” said Rejang Lebong Police Chief AKBP Tonny Kurniawan when contacted in Rejang Lebong, Saturday night.
Because they were still resisting, said AKBP Tonny Kurniawan, the officers then released a hot lead that hit the back of the perpetrator. In fact, previously there had been a struggle between the alleged perpetrator and the police so that decisive action was taken.
He revealed that the robbery case of a Honda Beat BD-2291-KR motorcycle belonging to the victim named Syafrudin (65), a resident of Talang Rimbo Lama Village, Central Curup District, occurred at 14.00 WIB in Lubuk Ubar Village, South Curup District, Rejang Lebong Regency.
The alleged perpetrator, said AKBP Tonny Kurniawan, after being paralyzed while still alive, was then taken by members of the Sindang Kelingi Police to the Annisa Hospital in Simpang Nangka Village for treatment. However, at around 16.00 WIB, the suspected robber died, then the body of Mr. X was taken to the Curup Hospital for an autopsy.
The chronology of the incident began when officers from the Sindang Kelingi Police received information from the WA group of the Rejang Lebong Police which stated that there was a robbery case in Lubuk Ubar Village. The officers then made an arrest in front of the police station, the Curup-Lubuklinggau highway.
The suspect, along with a colleague who was going to Lubuklinggau City, saw an intercept and then turned their vehicle back to Curup City. Members of the Sindang Kelingi Police then gave chase and managed to stop the two.
During the arrest, according to him, one person managed to escape into the garden, and the other tried to fight the officers while trying to secure him. The police then gave measurable firm action on the legs and back.
From the suspect’s hands, the police secured 1 unit of the victim’s motorbike, a sharp knife type weapon, and 1 set of letter T keys.
Until 19.30 WIB the body of Mr. X in that case is still stored in the morgue of the Curup Hospital to wait for his family to arrive.
