Fajarasia.co – Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, together with residents of Purwakarta, West Java, conducted a fish seed sowing activity in Jatiluhur Reservoir. Puan also praised the beauty of the reservoir, which is useful as a provider of irrigation, hydropower, and tourism.
Puan’s presence at Jatiluhur Reservoir, Wednesday (21/9/2022), was warmly welcomed by more than a thousand residents of Purwakarta. Together with the local community, he sowed 250 thousand fish seeds from the pier. Starting from the seeds of Nilem fish, Tawes, to Wader.
While sowing fish seeds, Puan occasionally chatted with fish farmers. He admitted that he had quite a lot of memories with his family in Jatiluhur Reservoir.
“A long time ago, I came here for a picnic, sat on a mat and brought food with you. Now it’s probably my third or fourth time here, I’m happy because it’s changed a lot and it’s become a cool tourist spot,” said Puan.
A resident who was present named Engkom Komariyah expressed his joy to meet Puan. Mrs. Engkom works every day to process Belida fish meat into shredded which is a typical Jatiluhur souvenir.
“Hopefully Jatiluhur stays clean and has lots of fish. I am very happy to be visited by Mrs. Puan,” said Engkom.
After spreading the fish seeds, Puan then had a dialogue with fish farmers and employees of Perum Jasa Tirta II. He also received aspirations from small fish shredder SMEs.
“I hope I can get the help of an oven and spinner to dry shredded fish meat,” hoped one of the MSME players, Nurhayati.
“Okay, later I will give you the production machines. And if possible, the Jatiluhur fish floss is labeled and the brand or brand on the packaging is made so that it is better known,” said Puan.
Then the representative of the Fisherman’s Group, Acit, expressed his aspiration to get help with fishing nets. Puan promised to fulfill the expectations of Acit and his friends.
“Hopefully the Jatiluhur Reservoir can be useful, since 1956 until now it has been getting better and the water is useful for the West Java area and its surroundings,” said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Puan reminded that water is the source of life and progress of civilization. Therefore, Jatiluhur Reservoir and other reservoirs are said to be very crucial for realizing water sovereignty.
“We want to build Indonesia, we want the welfare of the Indonesian people, all of them need water. And fish must be one of the mainstays to improve the welfare and food intake of Indonesians,” said Puan.
The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture said that Indonesia must develop fishery techniques and technology. According to Puan, this is to maximize fish cultivation as part of achieving food sovereignty.
“As the chairman of the DPR RI, I will fight for the aspirations of the fish farmers in the relevant commissions,” he said.
Puan also ensured that the DPR continued to carry out its supervisory function over controlling the number of cages in the Jatiluhur Reservoir. Not only that, the tourism infrastructure in the Jatiluhur Reservoir is also considered to be further improved.
“The Jatiluhur Reservoir has 11-12 views compared to the one in Crash Landing On You. Both are good,” said Puan.
“To Jatiluhur, I also counted as healing. Being able to meet the community is something that makes me happy, I can know what the community wants. To the regions, I can also know what kind of food is delicious, I like to try it, “added the grandson of the Indonesian Proclaimer Bung Karno.
Puan then told how she always tries to make quality time with her two children even though they are now adults. Moreover, her two children have always supported Puan’s political career.
“Always supported, I already know that her mother likes to work. ‘Cheer up, Mah!’ they always say that to me,” said Puan.
