Fajarasia.co –Two Indonesian women’s singles badminton players, Putri Kusuma Wardani and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung successfully defeated their opponents in the individual events.
Women defeated the Philippines representative Sarah Joy Barredo in two straight games 21-11, 21-9 and Gregoria managed to ensure that she qualified for the semi-finals after defeating another Filipino representative, De Guzman Mikaela Joy, with a score of 21-9, 21-7.
“Even if you win, you shouldn’t be too happy just yet, there will still be a match tomorrow where the opponent is not easy,” said Putri in an official statement quoted in Jakarta, Friday (20/05/2022).
In the semifinals, Putri will again challenge the representative of Thailand, Pornpawee Chochuwong.
“Preparing to fight him again, I have to be tired and try to keep chasing the ball before it falls on the floor. I have to fight and work extra hard,” he added.
Putri had just met Pornpawee, in the team final on Wednesday (18/5/2022).
At that time, Putri had to admit the superiority of her opponent 16-21, 20-22.
Another Indonesian women’s singles, Gregoria said she was happy after successfully qualifying for the semifinals. He promised to give his all when competing in the semifinals.
“Thank God I can get another medal for Indonesia. Of course I am not satisfied here, I want to upgrade the color of the medal. Hopefully tomorrow I can bring out all my abilities and play optimally,” said Gregoria. Gregoria will also challenge Thailand’s Phittayaporn Chaiwan in the semifinals.****
