Fajarasia.co – Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, asked the government and all stakeholders to pay more attention to the implementation of face-to-face learning in schools. This is in response to Covid-19 cases which are experiencing an upward trend following the emergence of new Omicron subvariants, particularly BA.4 and BA.5.
“To anticipate the increase in cases of children, health protocols must be optimized,” said Puan.
Responding to Puan’s appeal, Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX Rahmad Handoyo also reminded that the government should continue to be aware of the increasing trend of Covid-19 cases.
The goal, continued Rahmad, is to anticipate the controlled handling of Covid-19 cases, especially in the face-to-face teaching and learning process in the school environment.
“What Mba Puan said is correct and I agree to respond to the discovery of the BA.2.75 subvariant, I think we must be vigilant. Along with what Mba Puan said, we need to further improve the health protocol (Prokes),” said Rahmad to the media crew, in Jakarta,
“Especially in schools, we must also remind the government and all parties, especially the education offices,” he added.
Not only that, the politician from the PDI-P faction also asked the government to intensify the provision of complete vaccinations to the public. Of course, accompanied by Prokes strictly wherever they are.
“It must be followed by the prokes conveyed by the president. It is also time for us to return to using masks. Gas and brakes need to be carried out consistently, if there is a decrease, easing or adjustments are made.”
“But when the case rises, we have to tighten it again with the mandatory 3M procedure. Even in open spaces we must obey and orderly use masks and the 3M,” he said.
It is known, Puan Maharani reminded the Education Office in each region to go to the field more to check schools in their area. Puan said that the DPR through Commission X of the DPR would participate in monitoring.
“It is necessary to review the implementation of health protocols in schools. How is the social distancing regulation system. So I think the student health monitoring system and various other rules that support the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 must be more effective,” he explained.
Puan also asked the Covid-19 Handling Task Force to increase testing, tracing and treatment (3T) so that the rate of increase in cases could be suppressed as much as possible. Especially with the prediction of the emergence of a new Corona wave due to the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants.
“In Indonesia, the Omicron BA.2.57 subvariant has also been found which has infected a number of other countries. The 3T procedure should not be slack, especially testing, including in schools,” said Puan.*****
