Buya Syafii breathed his last at around 10.15 WIB, Friday 27 May 2022 at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta.

President Jokowi said that two months ago he visited Buya at his residence in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
“Two months ago, I came to visit Buya Syafii at his residence in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, when he just got out of the hospital after several days of treatment. At that time, he was healthy and looked fit. That was my last meeting with Buya Syafii,” said President Jokowi.
Meanwhile, hearing the sad news of the death of Buya Syafii, President Jokowi immediately decided to go to Yogyakarta to pay his respects and express his condolences directly to the entire family of the deceased.
Based on information from the Presidential Press Bureau, President Jokowi departed from the Merdeka Palace at around 12.30 WIB after performing Friday prayers at the Baiturrahim Mosque, the Presidential Palace Complex, to the hangar belonging to the Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF) Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Tangerang where the Indonesian Presidential Plane-1 is located. parked.
