Fajarasia.id — November 15, 2025 A tragic incident unfolded in Lorong Merak, Jalan Budi Utomo, Mataiwoi Village, Wua-Wua District, Kendari, in the early hours of Saturday. Bripka Laode Abdul Salman (36), a police officer from Polres Tolikara who was also known as a dedicated paragliding coach, lost his life while trying to protect his aunt from a violent attack by his uncle, Junaido (43), a civil servant (ASN).
Bripka Abdul Salman, affectionately called Bripka LAS, was found dead around 01:30 WITA with multiple stab and slash wounds inflicted by a traditional dagger known as a badik. He was fatally injured after attempting to evacuate his aunt, HA (41), and cousin, FI (20), from the assault. Witnesses reported that the perpetrator appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Born in Jayapura on December 8, 1988, Abdul Salman was not only a police officer but also a respected paragliding coach who frequently accompanied athletes to competitions. His visit to Kendari was to support his trainees during a tournament. “Bripka Abdul Salman was here as a coach for paragliding athletes, accompanying them for the competition,” explained AKP Gayuh Pambudhi Utomo, Head of Resmob Subdit III Jatanras, Polda Southeast Sulawesi.
During his stay in Kendari, Salman lived at his uncle Junaido’s house together with his aunt and cousin. According to HA, the suspect’s wife, the conflict began when Junaido returned home intoxicated after duty. He argued with his wife and daughter, even threatening them with a knife. Salman intervened, urging HA and FI to leave the house for safety. Instead, Junaido turned his aggression toward Salman, fatally attacking him.
FI managed to escape and call for help from neighbors. When residents entered the house, they found Salman lying in a pool of blood. Police officers arriving at the scene faced resistance from the suspect before successfully apprehending him.
The victim’s body was taken to Bhayangkara Hospital Kendari at around 03:40 WITA after crime scene processing by the Kendari Police identification team. The suspect, still covered in blood, was also transported to the hospital for medical examination.
This tragedy adds to the grim record of domestic violence cases in Indonesia that end in loss of life. Bripka Abdul Salman is remembered as a dedicated police officer and sports coach who tragically gave his life while protecting his family.****
