Fajarasia.co – The contestation towards the 2024 presidential election is increasingly being discussed along with the presence of a number of names who are also judged by their electability. However, it turns out that the names of candidates with high electability records are not necessarily qualified.
“I stated that the voting public should not only be fed with popularity and preferences. The preference, or public interest, in terms of electability is the election,” said Main Researcher Prof. Dr. Siti Zuhro, Saturday (4/6/2022). Candidates must continue to hone their skills and prove to potential voters of their quality and real work.
This is related to a statement by PDIP member Trimedya Panjaitan who stated that the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, was good at acting and the chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, did not like to pretend.
These two names are indeed being discussed a lot, even though in fact the General Chairperson, PDIP has not officially determined who will be promoted. This, said Siti Zuhro, is a party character that needs to be addressed.
“It means that in PDIP the general chairman plays an important role, in promoting cadres, presiding over capres and vice presidents, in coalitions, cadres in the party have many quality cadres, there should be a convention,” said Zuhro.
PDIP, he said, has many qualified cadres, they should be given space to compete in a healthy manner and then the results of the choices will be determined in the Convention.
“If they are used to competing internally, they will become adults, when competing outside through the Pilleg, Presidential Election, Pilkada, they are used to it. They will genuinely compete, the one with the best will come out as the winner. This is something that has not been made a tradition in the party,” added Siti Zuhro.
Meanwhile, Indodata’s Executive Director, Danis T.S Wahidin stated that figures with high electability need to prove that they also have an impact on society. Electability actually becomes a whip for the elites to bring the aspirations of the people and bring the interests of the nation.
“Because electability can move very quickly, what is more important is performance, whether political performance is truly felt by the community, is truly emancipatory in bringing the interests of the community,” he said.
“Well, Mr. Ganjar, Mr. Trimedya, who then makes criticism, must be willing to open up and give his classification, because the public space is a dialectical space, has the right to have an opinion, a contest of ideas. This is a space for all parties to provide clarification,” said Danis.
