Ministry of PUPR asks Perumnas to increase the construction of MBR Flats

Fajarasia.co – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) assesses that in the future Perum Perumnas needs to further increase the construction of vertical housing or flats (Rusun) for the community, especially low-income people (MBR).

“Perum Perumnas is one of the work partners of the Ministry of PUPR which plays an important role in building houses for the community. We hope that Perumnas can continue to increase residential development in the form of flats for people in the region,” said Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto in a release in Jakarta, Wednesday. (15/6/2022).

The existence of support for the construction of flats by Perum Perumnas which is integrated with mass transportation modes, he continued, is expected to be able to encourage the achievement of the One Million Houses Program while providing decent and affordable housing.

Iwan explained, Perum Perumnas can cooperate with various ministries/agencies that have potential land in regions and big cities in Indonesia.

The existence of field verification, cooperation patterns and good residential development concepts are considered to be able to attract people’s interest to live in development projects carried out by Perum Perumnas.

“Perumnas needs to carry out field analysis and market potential and juxtapose it with the benefits of the residential development plan,” he explained.

Flats development, according to him, can also optimize the use of existing land and attract the interest of the wider community to inhabit.

For that, he said, Perumnas could develop an integrated residential concept for mass transportation modes or Transit Oriented Development (TOD).

Today’s society, he continued, desperately needs housing that has easy and affordable transportation access.

“Today’s young generation must also learn to live in flats that were built with the TOD concept. Easy access to transportation will help mobilize the community,” he hoped.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Perum Perumnas, Budi Saddewa Soediro, explained that his party has currently conducted several site surveys related to potential lands for government agencies which are considered suitable if vertical housing is built.

However, according to Budi, his party also hopes for support from various parties so that the concept of TOD-based residential development that has been built by Perumnas in a number of areas can be implemented properly.

“We are ready to build TOD-based flats to help the community to occupy decent and affordable housing,” he said.****
