Fajarasia.co – The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, confirmed that the 2024 General Election (Election) will begin immediately, on June 14.
This was said by Puan after receiving an audience from the commissioners of the General Elections Commission (KPU), at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (6/6/2022).
“It has been mutually agreed between the KPU and the DPR through Commission II and the Government that the election stage will begin, God willing, according to the existing schedule, namely June 14, 2022,” said Puan.
To note, the General Election will be held on February 14, 2024, while the Simultaneous Regional Head Election will be held on November 27, 2024.
Puan explained that the timetable for registration of political parties as election participants will be set in August 2022, and the verification of political parties as candidates for election will be determined in December 2022.
“So that the implementation of the stages of holding the election, God willing, will be in accordance with the schedule that will be set,” said Puan.
Regarding the budget, the DPR together with the government and election organizers have agreed that the amount of funds for the 2024 elections is Rp. 76.6 trillion.
Puan hopes that the budget can be used effectively to realize quality elections.
“We hope that the election budget can be implemented efficiently and effectively and maximized according to its needs since the start of the election stage,” he concluded.****
