Malaysia lifts part of ban on export of chicken products

Fajarasia.co – Malaysia said on Wednesday it would now allow the export of some chicken products.

Thus, the Southeast Asian country partially lifted its export ban that was previously imposed on June 1.

Malaysia, which normally supplies live chicken supplies to neighboring Singapore and Thailand, previously suspended chicken export permits until prices and production stabilized.

The suspension of the permit comes at a time when the world continues to experience food shortages.

Malaysia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said in a statement that it would now allow the export of free-range chicken, black chicken, chicken products and broiler broilers.

The permit was issued after discussions with industry players and groups of chicken farmers.

Meanwhile, the ministry said, the export of broiler chickens and other types of chicken products is still prohibited.

Broiler chickens or broilers are the most common types of chicken imported by Singapore from Malaysia.

Chicken prices have skyrocketed in recent months at a time of world food shortages, exacerbated by the fallout from the Russo-Ukrainian war.

Malaysia said it would stockpile chickens in an effort to ensure supply and control rising prices.****
