Fajarasia.co – Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Lestari Moerdijat, suggested improving the governance of coaching in the field of national sports in order to be consistent and improve the achievements of Indonesian athletes.
“The sports sector is able to revive our Indonesian spirit to help this country rise from adversity,” said Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Lestari Moerdijat, in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday.
Lestari said pride in the supremacy of national sports in the regional arena was able to increase understanding of national values. Therefore, coaching in every sport must be consistent and measurable in order to produce superior athletes.
“It is important to produce superior athletes in various sports so that they can look proud when competing in international events,” said Rerie as he is familiarly called.
The government’s target of 72 gold medals at the SEA Games 2021 Vietnam until Sunday (22/5) has not been achieved. The position of the Indonesian contingent in the third place with the most gold medal collectors in the same event must be maintained, he said.
Rerie said that national sports must be able to implement a standard, sustainable and measurable coaching system in order to always be able to make achievements. This can be done through coaching prospective national athletes as part of regeneration.
In addition, the governance of national athlete development must have full support from stakeholders and the community at the central and regional levels.
With the guarantee of good governance in coaching prospective athletes at the central and regional levels, it is believed that Indonesia will have many athletes in the future.
Moreover, Indonesia’s large population of more than 278 million people should be one of the advantages if it is able to implement good governance in fostering the national sports sector.
“With a healthy mind and body from the nation’s children, it is not difficult for Indonesia to become a strong nation,” he said.****
