Fajarasia.co – Deputy V of the Presidential Staff Office, Jaleswari Pramodhawardani, said the government would accommodate the aspirations and participation of all parties regarding the establishment of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) for Papua.
He conveyed that the discussion process for the Papua New Guinea was currently underway and Papuans were invited to provide input to strengthen the content of the Papua New Guinea for the better.
“The government is very open to various aspirations and participation from all parties. The formation of the Papua New Guinea is a new system and design to build a prosperous and holistic Papua that is holistically and sustainably,” said Jaleswari in a press release in Jakarta, Saturday.
Jaleswari emphasized that the formation of the Papua New Guinea was a strategic issue for the government to address the problem of poverty, accelerate the development of people’s welfare, and development in the Papua region.
“That is, by shortening the reach of public services, accelerating health and education development, cutting costs, and solving difficulties in accessing public services both internally and externally in Papua,” he explained.
In the current situation, according to Jaleswari, Papua is trapped in a big cycle of poverty. This situation, he said, could not be changed if he did not implement a special strategy, namely refocusing on the development of growth centers, including bringing public service centers closer.
Jaleswari gave an example of the difficulties faced by the people of mountainous areas when managing administration, who had to travel long distances by air transportation which was difficult and expensive because the public service center was located at the provincial capital level.
“The result is the creation of isolation, especially with a very large area and a small population,” he said.
For that, continued Jaleswari, there needs to be a refocusing of the development of growth centers, including bringing public service centers closer to residential centers, through the addition of service centers.
“With the addition of the provincial capital, there will be additional hospitals, schools, and other service units at provincial levels. This will reduce costs, and the development budget will not be used up for expensive transportation,” said Jaleswari.
As is known, the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR has passed three drafts of the Bill (RUU) on the Establishment of New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Papua Province.
Namely the Bill for the Establishment of the South Papua Province, the Bill for the Establishment of the Central Papua Province, and the Bill for the Establishment of the Central Mountains Province.
The President has submitted the Surpres to the DPR RI to start the DIM discussion.
The government also accepts the aspirations of the people, which are currently being discussed by the Legislative Council of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the proposals for the new autonomous regions for the islands of North Papua and the new autonomous regions of Southwest Papua.*****
