Fajarasia.co – The head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) Komjen Boy Rafli Amar denies that he was mistaken because the Khilafatul Muslimin has been around for so long. According to Boy, it was part of the Reformation phenomenon.
Boy said that the Khilafatul Muslimin community organization (ormas) which is currently being investigated by the police, was only revealed due to modernization in terms of information.
“It’s not a mistake, so this is a phenomenon in the era of democracy. So, before the reform era, everything was closed,” Boy told reporters on Monday (20/6/2022)yesterday .
Furthermore, Boy said, the reform caused a lot of openness in society. Including, being used by radicals such as Abdul Qadir Hasan Baraja’s understanding to spread intolerance to the community.
“In the reform era, everything is open and transparent. So, various organizations have emerged. And the Khilafatul Muslimin organization is also not detected as a terrorist organization,” he said.
According to Boy, Khilafatul Muslimin is still in the stage of an intolerant organization, not a terrorist organization. So it is necessary to have a special treatment to detect it more deeply. Including, against other similar organizations.
“But many in organizations have an intolerance character. What he is new to is in the category of intolerant organizations. BNPT, based on the terrorism law, does not turn a blind eye to the potential for intolerance that can become radical terrorism,” he said.
